the Cross

"If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine.If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it."
-Jesus, Matthew 10:38-39
Powerful words spoken by the Son of Man.
Many of you have read in my previous blogs of the journy that God has been taking me on over the last few months.
Well, I have reached a cross roads. It is desision time. Tomorrow could change my life, as I know it, fovever.
Life as I know it.
What is life?
I like my life right now. And I don't understand the things that God is asking of me. They don't make much sence. So I have been clinging to my life. I don't want to let it go because it is nice, it is comfortable. I know this life.
"anyone who clings to life will lose it"
these words struck me as I read them.
And I heard Him again.
As tho He had read the WORD to me Himself.
"This verse is meant for you to do now, just as it was when you first knew me. Why do you cling to this life you have? You will lose it. Let it go, so that I can show you the life I intend for you"
Powerful words spoken by the Son of God.
I am convicted.
I have been disiplined.
I have desided to pick up my cross again.
For this life I have is nothing to cling to
It is dirty
It is broken
and not carrying the cross has made me weary.
So tomorrow, as I let go of my life, i will uncurl my fingers, relax whitened knuckles, and stop clinging to the life I desperatly want to hold onto, trusting that when I do, I will find the life God has waiting for me.
Pray for me friends. This is easier to write about then to do.

  1. Don't know if this verse will help, but this weekend the speaker focused on Jeremiah 6:16. "This is what the LORD says:

    “Stand at the crossroads and look;
    ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls.

    Praying for you.

  2. I needed to come here today and kneel, lovely words!

  3. excited for you! take the leap...scare and exciting....

  4. praying for you!
I love the picture of loosening fingers and relaxing white knuckles, because hearts like fingers when clasped hard for too long become stiff and the loosening sometimes hurts more than the grip did but letting go is for our good.

  5. Praying for you. Sometimes we get strength from writing it, we believe our words before we can believe our actions. It is hard, but the outcome will be worth it! He only gives good gifts friend. I'm excited for you.

  6. Wow, the joy of obedience will be yours, I know it. But I also know obedience can be scary.
Grace and peace as you follow Him,

  7. Would love to here more details. Will pray.

  8. yes, friend. yes. this is true and good and you have heard, and now you follow. this morning i read that we only truly love God if we obey him. i can tell you truly love him. i'm so excited for you. xo

  9. i'm praying for you in this journey. may you be filled with peace and courage as you walk new paths.

  10. Melissa,
Hi, I answered your question on my blog, and yes, I will pray for you tonight before I go to sleep.

  11. Praying for grace for your path, Melissa. Thanks for taking the time to leave that kind and understanding comment on my blog. Some days the cross feels heavier than others... may we both have strength to pick it up and walk.

  12. Praying for you...realizing He just asks us to say, "yes" give Him the mess we are so He can do wondrous things...beyond our imaginings. "Unto Him Who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think..." Ephesians 3:20

  13. I put a comment on here awhile ago, at least I thought I did, but then maybe I didn't.
Anyway, I've been praying for you. I hope you let us all know how you are doing.
